Having been closed since 2019 , Gilsland Hall is now opening for a brief period during summer 2021 and then undergoing full renovation works at the beginning of October . Gilsland Hall will close whilst the works are undertaken so as not to disturb guests, but when it does reopen it will be well worth it!
The plans are to reopen as a 5 star luxury country hotel, with new bedroom types and there will be some great new facilities at the property for guests to enjoy.
Sitting proudly in 140 acres of manicured garden and natural woodland in an idyllic countryside location with spectacular views over the Cumbrian and Northumberland countryside. It takes its name from the nearby Gilsland village. The location is an ideal base for exploring the World Heritage sites along Hadrian’s Wall, as well as for visiting Carlisle, Gretna, Hexham and Newcastle.
Well-known for the restorative properties of the historic sulphur well ("Gilsland Spa") visited by many since the 1800s.The Hotel offers guests the opportunity to explore, spot wildlife, including deer and red squirrels, walk, shop or just relax. Nearby, there are also opportunities for golf, fishing and horse riding.
The hotel boasts 60 en suite bedrooms, free Wi-Fi, and a centrally located ballroom with a bar. It caters for both residents and non-residents and there are opportunities to snack, lunch or dine in Galloways Bar.
